Buses have become the common and frequent thing to use by people for commutation in India .
In city we use muncipal transport buses , and for interstate we often opt for private bus operator .
Here i would like to state how indian bus industry is changing day by day , almost every year a new global bus manufacturing company is launching to spread their business in india , just because
a huge opportunity to make a business here .
Manufacturers from all over world have come to know about success story of volvo bus and emerging market of buses in india.
Here we will see the history of bus industry in india.
Here we can see the pic of old buses plying on the indian roads ,
first two pics belong to Ashok leyland and the last one is of TATA .
We were having only two players for manufacturing of bus .
Generally these companies used to provide a bus chassis instead of fully built of buses , but still it was not a true bus chassis .
Having front engine and spring leafs instead of air suspension and A/C . this is generally known as a truck chassis in international market .
But still these companies have played an important role for transporting and travel industry in india .They have also sold large no of bus chassis more than 5 decades .
People used to buy a bus chassis and build it in their own choice body builder like sutlej , prakash , acgl , and local body builders among the country .
Today in 21st century the face of bus industry is continuous changing , people are opting for premium buses instead of cheaper and old fashioned buses.
In 2001 when VOLVO launched it's first bus in india it completely changed the way people look towards the bus journey .
It introduced a bus built on true bus chassis
After launching the first bus , people just loved the bus and experienced the difference to travel in that bus .
This product was famous among the private bus operator whereas people used to ask for a volvo bus ticket .
Taking in consideration of increasing demand company started to produce the new models according to the latest technology .
they introduced various models like mark 2, mark 3 .
And they first to introduce the multiaxle buses in india .
Currently they have b9r and b11r successful products .
volvo also forayed in city buses .
After launching of volvo buses , mercedes also tried it's best but not as successful as volvo .
